Belarus, Uzbekistan Bolster Ties During CIS Assembly Meeting

Belarus and Uzbekistan leaders discuss future cooperation, women’s forums, and cultural projects at the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in St. Petersburg.

Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova, met with Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) Council session held in St. Petersburg, Russia, on 21 November. This meeting underscored the strengthening ties between Belarus and Uzbekistan, focusing on cooperative initiatives and cultural exchange.

Natalya Kochanova congratulated Tanzila Narbayeva on her appointment as Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan, highlighting the commitment to fostering mutual development. “We are confident that we will continue our fruitful cooperation for the benefit of our peoples and our countries,” Kochanova remarked. She conveyed her sincere congratulations and well wishes to her Uzbek counterpart, expressing optimism about future collaborations.

During the meeting, Kochanova emphasized the importance of continued partnership. She invited Narbayeva and her delegation to attend the third women’s forum in Belarus, which will take place in Vitebsk Oblast, specifically in the city of Vitebsk. The forum aims to bring women leaders together to discuss pressing global and regional issues, further solidifying ties between the two nations.

Looking ahead, Kochanova also announced that the third Belarusian-Uzbek women’s business forum is scheduled for August next year. This event will focus on enhancing trade and economic collaboration between the two nations, providing a platform for business leaders and entrepreneurs to explore opportunities.

In addition to economic and political discussions, the meeting also touched on cultural and historical initiatives. Kochanova noted that 2025 will mark the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. She extended an invitation to children from Uzbekistan to participate in the Memory Train project, a commemorative initiative honoring the shared history of the CIS nations. Kochanova expressed her gratitude for Uzbekistan’s involvement in this year’s project and looked forward to their continued participation.

The meeting between these prominent leaders reaffirmed the strong partnership between Belarus and Uzbekistan, setting the stage for deeper collaboration in various sectors. As both nations prepare for upcoming events, including women’s forums and cultural commemorations, the foundation for sustained cooperation and friendship continues to grow stronger.
