Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation during a key meeting between Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and the newly appointed Uzbek Ambassador, Saidikram Niyazkhodzhayev.

The meeting marked a significant step in implementing agreements from Zhaparov’s official visit to Uzbekistan in July 2024. Both leaders emphasized the establishment of the Higher Intergovernmental Council, which is expected to bolster strategic partnerships between the neighboring nations.

President Zhaparov highlighted the remarkable growth in trade volumes and the diversification of goods exchanged. He also stressed the importance of joint ventures and large-scale investment projects, particularly in the energy and transportation sectors.

Ambassador Niyazkhodzhayev echoed Zhaparov’s optimism, noting that the July visit marked a new chapter in Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan relations. He underscored the ambitious goal of increasing mutual trade turnover to $2 billion while advancing collaboration in energy, tourism, and regional development.
