Kyrgyzstan’s Oil Imports from Uzbekistan Rise by 3.9%

Kyrgyzstan’s oil imports from Uzbekistan rose by 3.9% in early 2024, despite a 20.7% drop in value, totaling 2,565 tons.

Kyrgyzstan imported 2,565 tons of oil products from Uzbekistan in the first five months of 2024, marking a 3.9 percent increase from the 2,468 tons imported during the same period in 2023. Despite the rise in volume, the value of these imports decreased by 20.7 percent year-on-year, dropping from $2.149 million to $1.705 million, as reported by the country’s Statistical Committee.

Top Oil Suppliers to Kyrgyzstan

Russia retained its position as Kyrgyzstan‘s primary oil product supplier, delivering an impressive 270,948 tons in the first five months of 2024. Kazakhstan followed as the second-largest supplier with 42,953 tons. While Uzbekistan’s contribution was smaller in comparison, its role in the market remains significant.

From January through May 2024, Kyrgyzstan’s total oil product imports surged to 322,175 tons, an 84 percent increase from 174,760 tons during the same period in 2023. The total value of these imports nearly tripled, reaching $371.467 million compared to $133.892 million in January–May 2023.
