In the last five years, Central Asia has witnessed a remarkable surge in trade turnover, exceeding an impressive 80% increase and crossing the $10 billion mark. This significant growth was highlighted by Tajikistan‘s President, Emomali Rahmon, during the 6th Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in Astana.

President Rahmon emphasized the untapped potential within the region, suggesting that with the strategic use of available resources, trade turnover could potentially double, reaching $20 billion in the near future. He underscored the importance of the ongoing efforts to enhance economic ties and collaboration among Central Asian nations.
Over a hundred proposals and initiatives from previous consultative meetings remain under consideration, showcasing the collaborative spirit of the region. Rahmon stressed that the successful implementation of these proposals would significantly contribute to the collective development and prosperity of Central Asia.
In his address, Rahmon also discussed several crucial areas for regional cooperation, including the expansion of trade and economic relations, advancements in agriculture, industry, and new technologies, and the execution of large-scale transport, infrastructure, and logistics projects. He also highlighted the importance of effectively utilizing the region’s abundant hydropower resources and fostering cooperation in cultural and humanitarian domains.
The Central Asian nations’ commitment to strengthening ties and leveraging their shared potential signals a promising future for regional trade and economic development. With continued focus on collaboration and innovation, the region stands poised for further growth and increased prosperity.
