In a momentous event underscoring the deepening cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev jointly unveiled a grand monument dedicated to the revered Persian poet and philosopher, Alisher Navoi, in Astana.

The unveiling ceremony, held in the heart of Kazakhstan’s capital, marked a significant tribute to Navoi, whose contributions to literature and philosophy have transcended national boundaries. President Mirziyoyev extended his heartfelt gratitude to President Tokayev for spearheading this initiative. He highlighted that the monument stands as a testament to the profound respect and fraternal bond shared between the two nations.
Mirziyoyev praised Navoi’s creative legacy, emphasizing that his works represent not only a treasure for the Uzbek people but also a global cultural asset. “The monument’s location in the central area of Astana is a powerful symbol of the Kazakh people’s admiration for the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan,” Mirziyoyev remarked during the ceremony.
The significance of this tribute is further enhanced by the recent literary efforts to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps. In 2020, the late Kazakh poet Nesipbek Aituly undertook the monumental task of translating and publishing Navoi’s seminal work, Hamsu, into Kazakh. This translation was accompanied by an introduction penned by President Tokayev, further cementing the shared literary heritage and mutual appreciation between the two nations.
The unveiling of the Alisher Navoi monument in Astana not only celebrates Navoi’s enduring influence but also reinforces the cultural ties and cooperative spirit between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
