A 34-member medical team from Uzbekistan has arrived in Afghanistan‘s Balkh province, delivering both critical healthcare services and humanitarian aid. This initiative underscores the commitment of Uzbekistan to support its neighboring nation in a time of need.

According to a statement released by the Balkh governor’s office, the medical team, along with essential supplies, was sent under the directives of Uzbekistan’s President. The aid package includes medicines, flour, oil, meat, and macaroni, addressing immediate needs within the province.

Speaking about the initiative, Alougbek Qosimov, the governor of Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region, highlighted the uniqueness of this mission. “Today’s aid is different from previous humanitarian assistance provided to Afghanistan. Along with essential supplies, Uzbekistan has sent doctors, specialists, and advanced medical equipment to offer healthcare services in Balkh,” he said.

The team comprises specialists in general medicine, surgery, neurology, pediatrics, gynecology, ophthalmology, and dentistry. Their primary base of operation is Hairatan port city, where they will diagnose and treat patients over the next five days.
